UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Emmett

Tapology
On Saturday, the UFC heads to Austin, TX for a card headlined by Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett with featherweight title shot implications. I feel like this card is really being overlooked. There is not much hype behind it or star names for the casual fans but trust me, this card is deep and has exciting match ups from top to bottom.
With that said, here are some things to look out for come Saturday night:
Kyle Daukaus kicks off the prelims. For all the Philly subscribers - Daukaus fights out of Philadelphia and is actually a former Philadelphia cop
Adrian Yanez wraps up the prelims against Tony Kelley. Yanez is considered by many the best boxer on the entire UFC roster (although the main event fighter Calvin Kattar may have something to say about that)
Joaquin Buckley faces off against Albert Duraev. You probably know Buckley without knowing you know Buckley from this kick
Kevin Holland - nicknamed "Big Mouth" for all of his mid fight trash talk, faces off against a tough Tim Means
Two legends Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon compete in what could be a retirement fight for either fighter. This is a good match up of two respected vets that are on the decline but can still put on a show.
Then we have the main event #4 ranked Calvin Kattar vs #8 ranked Josh Emmett. Kattar is a fantastic boxer out of Boston that will pick you apart for 25 minutes. While Emmett is a power puncher with great wrestling coached by Urijah Faber in CA. Huge title shot implications on this one, going to be a great fight.
Man, I swear I could have a write up for every single fight on this card. Tune in, it's going to be a good one.

Lock of the Week
Parlay (+117): Cerrone vs Lauzon under 2.5 rounds (-165) WITH Adrian Yanez (-280)

Dreamstime
We're going back to the well with a 2 leg parlay this weekend. We're 4-2 on the locks but undefeated on the two leg parlay locks so let's keep it going. I did struggle to decide which two picks to ride with in this parlay. I like a lot of bets this week, but with nothing that I feel 100% about though. With that said... lets ride.
Some stats behind the reasoning for these picks:
Cerrone has left his chin back in 2018. 8 out of his last 10 fights did not go the distance. Including his last 3.
Lauzon hasn't seen the third round in his last 3 fight, he's a quick starter.
Yanez is on an 8 fight win streak and his competition has been tougher than Tony Kelly.
Yanez and Kelly have one common opponent and they both finished him in round 2... but Yanez did it 2 minutes earlier into the round, so MMA math = Yanez will win

The Nate Diaz Saga

SportsJoe
We've wrote about the Nate Diaz saga before and we have an update... Well sort of. according to Ariel Helwani the UFC may be getting close to giving up waiting for the Conor match up and booking Diaz in his last fight of his contract in August.
As we have discussed, this is Diaz's last fight on his contract before he almost definitely will leave the UFC to go box Jake Paul for the biggest pay day of his career.
The UFC is most likely deciding to move on from the Conor fight because they realize there are so many other potential match ups for McGregor. Practically every fighter on the roster has called out McGregor for his comeback fight. Dana white has said that he likes the possibility of a McGregor vs Michael Chandler matchup. McGregor is rumored to be ready to return from injury early in 2023.
Who do you think Nate's next fight will be against? Take this survey and let us know. We'll share the results in Monday's edition of The MMA Snacks.
